The Alternative Energy Company (TAEC) proudly introduce a new Ecotop model cylinder to their range of highly energy efficient hot water systems. The new 300L Ecotop comes with two solar thermodynamic panels which means more thermal heat available and even more efficiency.
This new two-panel Ecotop system is ideal for larger home builds or high hot water user households. The beauty of this new two-panel Ecotop is that the footprint of the cylinder remains the same and it takes up no more space than the single panel 300L Ecotop cylinder.
This system is a good fit for homes that aim to be energy efficient because it uses minimal electricity; the compressor just uses between 500-800W when it runs, and it only needs to run intermittently. Hot water usage is variable, but in an average user household, the system would run around three hours a day.
TAEC invite you to visit their website www.taec.co.nz where there is a short video which explains the working principle of the solar thermodynamic system and how it is so energy efficient. Essentially it is a solar assisted air to water heat pump, however the system is around 35% more efficient than standard air to water heat pumps because of the solar gain from having the panel outside.
