Eurothane PIR Insulation Boards have a very high R-value relative to their thickness so they make it easy to meet the H1 insulation standards. For example, the 150mm thick PIR R-value is 6.8 and the 140mm thick is R6.35 — ideal for roof insulation requirements. The boards come in a range of thicknesses and the dimensions of all the boards are 2.4m x 1.2m.
Installation is safe and easy. The boards can be cut with an insulation saw or craft knife. They do not produce dust or mess or release any harmful gas or toxins. They are lightweight and have a high compression strength.
Eurothane PIR is more effective than other types of insulation in terms of flood and water resilience. This is because it has a closed cell structure which means there is minimal water uptake. During immersion in water for 24 hours, water absorption is only 2% and the closed cell structure means even when wet the boards maintain their integrity. There is no slumping or long moisture retention.
Electrical cables can safely penetrate the PIR board with no detriment to the cable sheathing, so the cables do not need to be wrapped.
Over the life of a building, Eurothane PIR will save far more energy than that required in their production, resulting in significant reductions in energy consumption and cost, as well as CO2 emissions. They are made with CFC free and HCFC free materials and, as such, have a global warming potential (GWP) less than 5 and zero ozone depletion potential.
