Energie Eco Solar Thermodynamic Domestic Water Heating
Description

An Energie Eco domestic water heating system consists of an Eco cylinder, with its attached compressor and heat exchanger, and one or two 8kg aluminium thermodynamic panels, which are externally mounted on the roof, wall, balcony or ground. The cylinder is availabel in 250L, 300L or 500L capacity. The onel panel system compressor uses just 390watts when it runs (and only need to run intermittently) so uses minimal electricity and produces no carbon emissions. The 2 panel comprssor uses 600watts.

The system has 3 modes of operation, Eco, Boost and Auto so can provide reliable hot water for changing requirements. It is most efficient when the panel is in the sun but does not rely on the sun to operate effectively. The system produces hot water 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Energie Eco works in all weather conditions, and even at night. No separate back-up system is required.

How Eco Works

A refrigerant liquid (R134A) passes through the thermodynamic panel gathering heat from solar radiation, environmental temperature, rain, wind and snow. This causes the refrigerant to become a hot gas which is then compressed, further increasing its temperature.

The heat is then transferred to the water via a heat exchanger coil which is wrapped around the outside of the cylinder. The gas is decompressed and condenses back into a liquid which returns to the panel, and the process repeats.

ECO 500is 500 litre stainless steel 2
Limitations on Use
  • The cylinder is usually housed inside or, if installed outside, under cover as the electronics must not get wet
  • The cylinder is not suitable for wall-mounting
  • The thermodynamic panel should be mounted facing north, west or east

The Energie Eco system must be installed by a qualified plumber and a qualified refrigerant engineer, who must commission the system. Relevant installation documents can be supplied by The Alternative Energy Company on request. The Alternative Energy Compnay handle the refrigeration side of the install and include it in their pricing. This is because correct installation is important for effective operation. Once installed correctly it is a maintenance free system.
