When installed on fibre cement board, the system offers a BRANZ appraised solution for buildings up to 10.5m high — with versatile design options to help architects design unique facades. 

Applications

Craftstone’s BRANZ-appraised real stone veneer system is for 3604 timber framed buildings up to 10.5m high, making it ideal for high-end stand-alone homes, retirement villages and light commercial buildings where it provides a natural stone wall aesthetic within the weight limitations of a medium-weight cladding system. 

Craftstone Select can also be specified on steel framed buildings, with Craftstone providing an addendum which covers buildings using the NASH system. Craftstone has also been successfully used on projects that exceed 10.5m, such as six-storey apartment buildings, with some modifications to the standard system to meet compliance.

As a face loaded cladding system that falls under the medium weight cladding category of the NZBC (under 80kg/m²), Craftstone Select doesn’t require any foundation support. Custom installation for a bespoke aesthetic

Craftstone Select is ideal for creating bespoke facades that are tailored to meet your client’s brief. An approved installer from Craftstone’s network will select and shape each stone to interlock beautifully. This ability to select the colour and layout of the stone provides greater control over the final result.

Craftstone Select offers excellent design flexibility to help architects create unique stone facades, with options including: 

• Range of colours: Craftstone Select comes in a standard range of twenty four different colours — with the ability to combine up to five colours to create bespoke walls. And if a specific look falls out of the standard range, the Craftstone team can access their network of over 100 suppliers worldwide to source the stone required.
• Varied shapes and sizes: A variety of stone shapes and sizes are available to help installers create a more natural stone wall look than possible with panelised systems. In addition to front facing and corner stones, the system also comes with accessory stones including sill stones and capstones for the top of walls and columns.
• Pointed or bagged finish: Craftstone Select can be installed with a pointed finish — with the gaps between stones filled with the mortar colour of the clients’ choice, or a bagged finish for a more rustic look.

Craftstone Select on fibre cement board is BRANZ appraised and meets NZBC compliance requirements for B1 Structure, B2 Durability, E2 External Moisture and F1 Hazardous Building Materials.

Craftstone offers a full range of detailed drawings for the Craftstone Select system, and can provide alternative detail drawings if needed for any more unique designs.

The Craftstone technical team can provide images of different colours and styles available, as well as samples of different stones, to help architects and their clients determine the look they want.

Craftstone Select has been used on thousands of projects across New Zealand over the last 14 years. These include facades on residential new builds, renovations, retirement villages and apartment buildings, as well as low-rise residential buildings and hotels. Craftstone Select has also been used for stone walls and landscaping features, showcasing the versatility of the system.

Warranty and maintenance

Craftstone Select is a durable and low maintenance cladding solution, which only requires a clean with soapy water every two years or so. With a PS3 the system comes with a 15 year warranty on the product and system, and a five year warranty on installation.
