The latest addition to the global Nando's Restaurant chain is their flagship New Zealand restaurant, 360 Queen Street, Auckland.
For the interior, Rockcote Earthen Clay Plaster was selected based on performance, speed of application, and the ability to achieve the Nando's global finish selections. The Nando's Australasia management team were over for the grand opening and were very impressed with the finishes that were achieved in a very tight time frame.
Rockcote Earthen was finished in two ways, firstly with a base coat followed by a Nando's diamond template overlay to create a 3-4mm raised relief, and secondly with a two layer 'off the trowel' finish. To finish off the bathroom walls, the Earthen Clay was coated with Resene waterborne Aquapel to provide water resistance.
The Rockcote Natural Materials range draws inspiration from nature to provide beautiful natural interior and exterior finishes that don’t compromise health or the environment. With the increasing awareness of eco-building techniques, alongside the desire to make homes healthier, the benefits of using traditional natural renders and paints are being rediscovered. By working with natural clay materials and natural lime, Rockcote are reviving ancient skills and building practices to create unique, appealing and natural aesthetics.
The natural breathable plasters can be used on a wide variety of wall surfaces, including traditional and eco-build materials like cob, straw bale, stone and the latest hemp construction systems, as well as modern plasterboard and concrete surfaces, with stunning results. Most products in the Rockcote Natural Materials range can be tinted to a wide range of Resene colours.
