Under the new H1 requirements, underfloor system R-values have increased substantially. Previously the minimum requirement for suspended floors was just R1.3, whereas the new Building Code lifts that to R2.5 for Climate Zones 1-4 and R3.0 for Zones 5 and 6 (view the table in the image gallery above or click here for more details on the new requirements).
Recognising both specifier interest in higher R-values and likely changes to the Building Code, Mammoth recently released a new R2.8 underfloor section to support the new requirements. They also offer R1.9 friction-fit underfloor sections that can be double-layered to deliver an effective solutions for climate zones requiring higher insulation values.
A reminder of the key benefits of Mammoth underfloor insulation:
- Semi-rigid airlay polyester sections
- Self-supporting — squeezes between joists
- Up to 7,800 recycled plastic bottles per 100m²*
- Long-lasting heat bonded fibres — will not sag or shrink over time
- Moisture resistant for underfloor conditions
- Non-corrosive — will not affect underfloor electrical wiring
- Red List Free
- BRANZ appraised
- Made in New Zealand by a carboNZero certified organisation
With the new R-values required from November 2022, Mammoth's R2.8 underfloor sections are now available for current and upcoming projects.
Further Mammoth research, development and testing is currently in progress on new products that will meet wall and ceiling system solutions and feed into the Mammoth H1 system calculation service.
