Reducing Construction Waste with 100% Recyclable Mammoth Insulation

With effort to reduce construction waste, New Zealand insulation manufacturer Mammoth, is leading the charge with its approach to sustainable products. From the production line to site delivery, installation, and end-of-life, Mammoth takes full responsibility for its material through a zero-waste manufacturing processes, and an unrivalled recycling program.

The construction industry faces a challenge of managing waste, with nearly half of all landfill rubbish in New Zealand originating from construction activities. Mammoth’s solution is to address the issue at its source: product manufacturing. By making insulation products from a recyclable base material, offcuts from site, or insulation at the end of the building's life can be returned to Mammoth for reintegration into the manufacturing process. The Mammoth insulation product is 100% recyclable, it can always be reused again and again. Every 100 square metres of Mammoth insulation incorporates the equivalent of up to 15,600 500ml plastic bottles.

Mammoth’s commitment to sustainability doesn’t stop at manufacturing. The company have an established, robust take-back program for clients. Recycling bins for return of Mammoth insulation offcuts are available at Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, and Wellington. There is also opportunity to return material outside these area by arrangement. These bins across the country allow easy return of material for recycling, thereby reducing the environmental impact.

This take-back initiative is not limited to just offcuts, the program includes recycling of the plastic packaging, which is deliberately designed to be 100% recyclable. Mammoth Insulation are always working towards reducing waste in the construction industry, championing a zero-waste manufacturing process and offering a comprehensive recycling program to try make a difference, rather than just burying waste in the ground.
