Laminex offers Fire Retardant Melteca laminated panels which achieve a Group 1-S rating, perfect for commercial and other interior applications where fire performance is of the utmost importance.
"When specifying materials for wall linings with fire resistant properties, Melteca Fire Retardant is the ideal choice," says Laminex New Zealand Marketing Development Manager Rob Jackson. "All standard decors in the Melteca range are available in a fire retardant option, providing a wide range of choice in colour and finish selection."
Laminex New Zealand also offers Laminam ceramic panels for both interior and exterior wall surfacing, offering exceptional durability and fire resistance with a Group 1 rating.
"The Ameti Transport Centre is a leading project for metropolitan Auckland infrastructure developments and we are really proud to have Laminam play such a strong role," says Jackson. "The critical properties of durability, including fire resistance, made Laminam the perfect material," adds Jackson.
A high traffic, public space, the products used to clad this hub needed to be able to withstand human and weather elements, with minimal risk of damage. Laminam was chosen for its durability: resistance to scratching, graffiti and fading due to UV light. A bonus was its superior fire performance.
Laminam does not contain organic material, therefore it is resistant to fire and high temperatures. In the event of fire it does not release smoke or toxic substances. Laminam is non-combustible, being fired at over 1200º in a kiln during the manufacturing process.
The facility was constructed in 2013 and since its opening it has performed as required with zero service calls.
When tested in accordance with the NZBC Verification Method C/VM2 Appendix A Laminam achieves a Group 1 rating when tested in reaction to fire, heat release and smoke production, making it the perfect material when fire performance is critical.
Laminam panels each measure 3000 x 1000mm, and are available in more than 90 colours and finishes, including solid colours, patterns, wood-grains, stone, gloss and metallic finishes. Twenty-four of these colours are held in stock in New Zealand — the rest are imported to order from Italy.
