In the reception area of Stride's head office, the Stride logo is backlit on a fabric panel that is set into a Melteca Aged Walnut feature wall. The feature wall was made by cutting the Melteca panels into battens, edged with black edgetape and installed with a 10mm wide negative detail, to enhance shadow lines and depth. This design choice added a touch of drama to the space while subtly referencing the brand's colour.
In the staff hub, black ceiling tiles and subdued lighting create a restful atmosphere in comparison to the general work areas. Melteca Aged Walnut was paired with Melteca Storm for the cabinetry, Design Manager Charmaine explains, “the mid-grey of the storm has a subtle blue hue that picks up on the tones in the walnut. We completed the look with a Melteca Black toe kick and Caesarstone benchtops in Cloudburst Concrete.” In addition, another subtle layer of texture was created with Surround by Laminex panels in Demi Round 40, installed on the front of the island bench and painted to match the Melteca Storm cabinetry.
Overall, the use of Melteca Aged Walnut throughout the interior not only provided practical benefits but also contributed to the aesthetic cohesion and warmth of the office environment. The design aimed to ensure a human connection and resonance in materials, achieving a sophisticated and relaxing atmosphere.
