Located in Melbourne, the iconic Swanston Square building is a 34-storey residential tower featuring 536 apartments and 222 parking spaces. EFAFLEX Australian partners, Premier Door Systems, recently supplied and installed EFAFLEX High Speed Door systems for the building.
For access to the underground car parks, secure and durable high speed doors were required to cope with the high volumes of traffic. In addition, limited head clearance space was available, which meant a compact solution was needed. The EFAFLEX SST High Speed Door was selected as it could resolve space issues without compromising on speed or safety.
The SST High Speed Door features an oval spiral tracking system which reduces head clearances required for overhead doors. This oval spiral design, along with a low-lintel model tracking system enables high speed doors to be installed in areas that have previously not been possible — head room spaces as low as 200mm are achievable. With high speed doors often needing large clearances above the door opening, the SST oval is a smart choice when space is at a premium.
For the Swanston Square project, the EFAFLEX SST High Speed Doors supplied measure 6 metres wide — larger than an average span, demonstrating EFAFLEX’s ability to provide tailored solutions. The high speed doors open in seconds and close immediately after the car has passed through to actively prevent unauthorised access by pedestrians and vehicles into the building.
Designed for 200,000 work cycles a year, Efaflex SST High Speed Doors provide exceptional durability, capacity and safety for high-traffic buildings. In the case of the Swanston Square Building, the high speed doors have also created a level of ventilation for the underground car parks and provided direct integration into the building’s security management system.
By installing EFAFLEX SST High Speed Doors, the building owners have ensured fast, secure and hassle-free car park access for residents of the cutting-edge tower.
