Woodspan PLT: A Dependable Structural Timber Alternative

With shortages and long lead times hitting structural building products, it’s important to consider supply chains and look towards alternatives that can keep up with demand. Using only locally sourced timber, Woodspan manufactures their range of high-performance PLT (parallel laminated timber) panels in Taranaki ensuring a dependable supply for NZ projects.

Woodspan offers subfloor, mid floor and roof panels for a variety of applications, from high-end architectural to medium density housing and apartments. By working with architects from start to finish, the Woodspan team can provide reliable structural timber alternatives that meet the requirements of each project.

100% locally sourced timber

Woodspan’s factory is located in New Plymouth and all their timber is sourced from 100% sustainably farmed New Zealand Radiata pine from Taranaki and the central North Island. Architects and builders can have peace of mind knowing Woodspan can confidently meet demand due to this reliable local supply chain.

Manufactured off-site and timed to suit the build programme

Woodspan PLT panels are manufactured off-site using millimetre-accurate CNC technology providing a cut-to-measure structural solution that can be quickly and easily installed. By working with architects at the early stage of the design process, Woodspan builds the lead time into the process so panel delivery ties in neatly with when the panels are needed on site.

Quick and simple installation

Woodspan undertakes a full shop drawing process, providing builders with an easy-to-follow layout which is paired with clearly labelled panels and the packing of trucks to suit installation order. This results in fast and simple installation with builders able to easily unload the truck and install panels following the layout. And as the panels are prefabricated, all the builders need to do is drop them in place and screw them down — a quick and easy process that saves time and labour costs.

Start-to-finish project support

The Woodspan team is available to support each project from start to finish. “We are there to assist at any point,” says Tim McDonald, Sales Manager, Woodspan. “That includes working with the design team at the specification stage right through to being on site to talk the project team through the delivery and installation process.”
