G6 Airborne and Impact Sound requires the prevention of undue noise transmission in building elements between occupancies or common spaces in household units.
A range of steel stud acoustic wall system options are available through Steel Rollformed Products Ltd, for all building types, which are designed to enhance levels of acoustic privacy. Find out more below and view the systems in the images above.
1. Double Stud SRP Stud Frame Wall for two-way FRR, acoustic and intertenancy walls.
SRP 64mm Std steel studs are placed in SRP 64mm Std steel track. Steel tracks are fixed to floor and ceiling with at least 25mm separation space between partition frames. Studs are installed at 600mm centres maximum with a 15mm expansion gap at the top of the stud frame. No fixing of studs to head track. Recommended maximum wall height = 2700mm.
Acoustic performance ranges between STC 55 up to STC 65 depending upon plasterboard linings, configuration as per GIB Noise Control Systems manual September 2017.
2. Staggered Stud SRP Frame Wall
SRP 64mm Std steel studs placed in SRP 92mm Std steel track. SRP Steel track is fixed to the floor and ceiling, and studs placed staggered at 300mm centres to form 600mm centres maximum at each side of the steel track. Recommended maximum wall height = 2400mm.
Acoustic performance range STC 54 up to STC 55 depending upon plasterboard linings, configuration as per GIB Noise Control Systems manual September 2017.
3. Acoustic Stud SRP Frame Wall
SRP Acoustic Whisperwall Stud 92mm is placed in 92mm SRP Std steel track. SRP Steel track is fixed to floor and ceiling, studs installed at 600mm centres maximum with a 15mm expansion gap at the top of the stud frame. Recommended maximum wall height = 3800mm.
Acoustic performance ranges between STC 52 up to STC 62 depending upon plasterboard linings, configuration as per GIB Noise Control Systems manual September 2017.
4. SRP Steel Frame wall fitted with Acoustic Resilient rail
SRP 64mm Std steel studs are placed in SRP 64mm Std steel track. SRP steel track is fixed to the floor and ceiling, SRP steel studs installed at 600mm centres maximum with 15mm expansion gap at the top of the stud frame. No fixing of studs to head track. Recommended maximum wall height = 2700mm. SRP Acoustic Resilient rail should be fixed horizontally at 600mm centres through the base flange into each stud.
Acoustic performance range STC 55 up to STC 57 depending upon plasterboard linings, configuration as per GIB Noise Control Systems manual September 2017.
