Situated in Takapuna on the former Harbourside Church site along Esmonde Road is one of the largest Apartment Buildings to be constructed in Auckland within the past 1-2 years, Amaia Bay Apartments, at around 10,500m². The project includes over 100 units over six levels, with healthcare, childcare, retail and fitness facilities on the lower two levels, and so acoustic performance between spaces proved to be of very high importance.
Originally the project specification did not include a full scope of SRP Steel Rollformed Products, however this was quickly adjusted, to suit specific project requirements by on-site contractor (KBS Construction) and architect (PB&A). The interior solutions Steel Rollformed Products Ltd offer and their ability to manufacture/supply products such as Acoustic Whisperwall Steel Studs to specific length, within short lead-times, and with relative cost-effectiveness achieved, made them a smart choice for the project.
While this apartment building is constructed of large concrete floor plates, internally, SRP Whisperwall Acoustic steel stud partition walls have been installed, for significant reduction in sound transmission between spaces.
The internal pre-cast concrete walls also eventually need to be lined with plasterboard, and a high-level surface finish to be achieved. For these areas, an SRP Clip and Batten Wall Strapping System has been selected — to provide the necessary levelling-out adjustments, as required.
For the internal suspended ceilings, and external soffits — SRP Concealed Metal Ceiling systems have been installed. These are Design Engineered and include all the required seismic bracing elements as per specific requirements to suit this particular building design and specific site location.
If you or your design team are looking for the type of lightweight rollformed steel solutions as mentioned above, please contact Steel Rollformed Products. SRP provide technical support and assistance from early design stages, right through until project completion.
