Steel Rollformed Products Ltd (SRP) is a manufacturer of quality steel stud and ceiling systems. A family-owned and run business established in 2007 by the Bedford Family, SRP prioritises sourcing materials that are not only locally produced to support kiwi business, but also uphold a high environmental standard. They manufacture in Auckland with distribution centres in Tauranga and Christchurch which helps further reduce the carbon footprint with no need to rely on overseas supply.
SRP sources their steel coils from NZ Steel, mitigating the environmental cost of transporting raw materials as well as keeping lead times very low. SRP is proud to be partnered with NZ Steel who have achieved many environmental standards such as the Environmental Choice Tick, Telarc Environmental Tick, as well as being a part of the New Zealand Green Building Council and the World Steel Association who uphold high standards for environmental steel production.
The raw material NZ Steel uses is all sourced from within New Zealand. Iron sand is mined from the west coast of the North Island. Once the iron is extracted and refined, 75% of the mined sand is returned to the excavation site with extensive planting of grass, pine trees and native plants to restore the land back to its natural state.
Along with extracted iron, recycled steel is also used in the steel making process. This is due to steel's ability to be 100% reusable thus exceeding the life cycle of other products such as treated timber. SRP collects all offcut materials to ensure recycling and repurposing. SRP products have achieved the maximum 3 Green Star Rating points under the Steel Mat-8 category.
By taking these necessary steps, SRP creates products that are of high quality and environmentally sustainable. They are justifiably proud of these achievements.
