Cosentino Casts a Trance in a Kitchen Renovation

Melanie Sa’u was working on a major renovation project for clients living in a home with amazing sea views when she came across Dekton by Cosentino’s Trance.

“While we had white and more subtle stones in mind for the project, it wasn’t until we saw Trance in a large piece that the client fell in love with the blue veining,” explains Sa’u. “She loved how it reflected their coastal home and reminded them of the beach.”

The carbon-neutral surface, designed for Cosentino by Nina Magon, was specified for the kitchen island, a bench and splashback on the opposite wall, and to clad the wall behind a pantry with shelves.

“Using such a bold stone with a limited colour palette meant we wanted to make the most of it and really utilise the stone wherever we could,” explains Sa’u. “The appliance pantry was a space that would be used and kept open often. We made the decision to incorporate the stone in it to keep the ‘wow’ factor across the whole space.”

That pantry was just one of the things that the homeowners had on their wishlist. They also needed to accommodate a large fridge, freezer and a beverage fridge, to have both the cooktop and sink in the kitchen island so that they could enjoy the views while cooking, and to have the space connect seamlessly with the wider living space.

Dekton, which is warrantied for 25 years, was perfect for the brief of selecting materials that could withstand the rigours of time.

“We were drawn to the practical qualities offered by Dekton,” explains Sa’u. “This choice not only ensured longevity but also provided a level of durability that allowed the clients to embrace their busy routines without having to be too careful of how they used their benchtops. Dekton's temperature-, scratch-, and stain-resistance properties offer them a peace of mind.”

Dekton can be specified for exterior cladding, flooring and interior wall cladding too. For more information, visit Cosentino.
