A simple adaptor has just been released which allows Plasma Entrance Doors to be fitted to mainstream residential frames from Altherm, First and Vantage window and door manufacturers.
Previously, pivoting doors required shopfront or APL Architectural Series frames to be fitted in entranceways. This was a higher cost option which also placed some constraints on adjoining window sidelight formats.
Now a flat infill can be clipped into the standard residential door frame, and a pivoting Plasma entrance door with aluminium or glass cladding can be installed. The pivoting pin on the hinge side is straightforward at top and bottom, and no complex or expensive pivot control box is required.
This free pivoting format means that the door panel closes tight against a weathering flange on both jambs. The door does not brush past the jamb as in some pivot door arrangements. Weathertightness is enhanced and door locks and handles simplified.
The new adaptor system is available only with Plasma doors. The Plasma range is particularly wide and versatile with treatments including flat sheet aluminium, panels with negative detail lines, horizontal tongue and groove patterns or all-glass surfaces in striking, opaque colours.
Available in the first quarter of 2016.
