APL Launches New uPVC Window Range

The uPVC range is based on the premium quality 76 Series by Kommerling, the northern hemisphere market leader, with design adaptations made by APL to suit New Zealand conditions and installation practices. Klima windows and doors are available through Altherm, First and Vantage manufacturers.

The new range has outstanding thermal efficiency and is a good choice where protection from winter cold is an important consideration. When used with low-E double glazing, Klima is rated to a maximum 6 energy stars under WEERS (Window Energy Efficiency Rating System).

The range also exploits the sound dampening effectiveness of uPVC. Klima's unusually wide profiles lift sound insulation to a new level.

A standard range of windows is offered — awning, casement and sliding. Door options include hinged, French and sliding, with stacking sliders available. Door heights of 2.1m are possible in very high wind zones (colour-matching aluminium thresholds at the sill are incorporated in sliding doors to ensure hard wearing and durability). The hinged door comes in two choices — open-in (with low threshold option) and open-out.

Hidden steel reinforcing in all uPVC profiles (shown in blue in these cross-section drawings) ensures shape stability and structural excellence.

Exciting new hardware options for Klima also leverage the European experience — 'tilt-and-turn' window handles allow a swap between side-opening and top-opening formats. Espagnolette handles also allow unobtrusive, two-point window locking. An incorporated 'Eurogroove' in all products facilitates the use of sophisticated hardware, including adjustable multi-point locking on panel doors.

Klima windows and doors are made from a highly durable 'hot country' uPVC, an environmentally-friendly lead-free formulation. Products are available as standard in white but can also be supplied with other exterior colours using the 'Aluclip' system featuring an aluminium facing shell. The exterior colour choice then becomes virtually unlimited. This feature will be available shortly after the initial product launch.

Klima caters for 24mm double glazed units.
