ARDEX Butynol Waterproofing Membranes are comprised of a synthetic rubber membrane with properties which resist ageing from heat, sunlight and ozone. It has excellent gas impermeability and toughness and remains flexible at low temperatures.
ARDEX Butynol is appraised for use as waterproofing membranes for buildings (roofs and decks) with timber supporting structures designed and constructed in accordance with the NZBC, with normally flat or pitched roofs constructed to drain water to gutters and drain outlets complying with NZBC, with substrates of plywood or sheet and with decks that have a maximum size of 40m².
ARDEX Butynol is also appraised for use as waterproofing membranes for external reinforced concrete and plywood roofs, pedestrian decks and balconies up to three storeys with a maximum height from ground to eaves of 10m and with a floor plan area limited only by seismic and structural joints. It is also suitable for external reinforced concrete and plywood roofs, pedestrian decks and balconies subjected to maximum wind pressures, with reinforced concrete structure and timber supporting structures designed and constructed in accordance with the NZBC, and with normally flat, curved or pitched roofs constructed to drain water and gutters and drain outlets complying with NZBC.
Roofs and decks must be designed and constructed with no steps within the deck level, no integral roof gardens, and no dowpipe discharging directly onto the deck.
The membranes must be installed by trained applicators, approved by ARDEX New Zealand Limited.
ARDEX Butynol, assuming use, install and maintenance stated within the ARDEX Butynol Datasheet, will meet the following provisions of the NZBC:
ARDEX Butynol has been manufactured in Christchurch since 1962 and has been applied to many iconic and long-standing buildings such as the Christchurch Town Hall and the Christchurch Airport.
ARDEX Butynol is resistant to colour fade, with light coloured ARDEX Butynol being the same provided that water running off unpainted treated timber and some metals (e.g. copper), do not run over the applied surface. ARDEX Butynol can be painted to restore or ensure colour longevity.
ARDEX New Zealand supply and manufacture a range of quality construction materials, including products for levelling floors; external and internal waterproofing; and fixing natural stone and tiles.
