Viking Roofspec introduced WarmSpan to provide building owners and architects with a fully-engineered, energy-efficient low-slope roof system that reduces the cost of the substrate and its supports, therefore lowering the cost of the building significantly, while delivering increased energy efficiency and greater durability.
The key focus here is cost reduction without structural compromise. The Viking WarmSpan system costs approximately two-thirds less than a conventional timber substrate membrane roof. This is due to the fact that the Viking WarmSpan system eliminates two-thirds of the structural supports required for a traditional plywood substrate. The engineered WarmSpan system can span up to 3.6m, which is a significant difference when compared to the 400mm centres between rafters usually needed for a plywood substrate (which must be H3.2 treated). The steel tray itself is more cost effective and significantly faster to install than plywood, offering significant cost savings on both product and labour.
Further efficiencies can be achieved through Viking WarmSpan's energy saving properties.
