Provista Balustrade Systems has installed a combination of semi-frameless glass and aluminium vertical baluster-style balustrades to the decks and access areas of apartments in a new six-block development in Papakura, South Auckland. The new homes will be used by the government to provide much needed additional housing in this growing area.
The three-level blocks on Great South Road provide 29 new homes as part of housing densification in the area. They feature modern exteriors combining weatherboard, brick and low maintenance materials with clean lines and complementary colour combinations. The balustrades feature a Matt Black powder coat finish in keeping with the joinery and other screening solutions that are integrated into the deck areas of the buildings.
Having used Provista solutions in previous projects, the building contractors, GJ Gardner Homes Franklin/Papakura, specified Provista’s ‘Summit’ solution to provide a stylish balustrade to the second and third levels of the apartments in each building. In keeping with the design of the building, the solution also features a ‘Retro’ rectangular handrail profile. Provista’s strong ‘Ultra’ post profile was utilised which also allowed visually pleasing post spacings to be achieved. The Ultra post range is specified for use in Extra High wind zones as standard. The glass utilised is Metro Performance Glass 10mm Toughened Safety Glass, with clear glass used for the majority of the apartments and obscured Etchlite glass for extra privacy for the units nearest the road frontage.
Provista’s ‘Villa’ Framed Aluminium solution was used for access and stair areas within the blocks. Both the Panorama and Villa solutions are very adaptable to different building types, looking great on modern or classical structures and, in this case, have provided practical, low maintenance and modern solutions that complement the design and look of the apartments.
Provista Balustrade Systems solutions are compliant with all NZ regulations and suited to A, B, E and C3 residential and commercial applications.
