Provista Framed Glass and Euro Slat for Auckland Childcare Centre

The new Edukids Childcare centre in East Tamaki Road is a modern, comprehensive facility and a part of the BestStart education and care centre network. BestStart, a registered charity organisation, operates centres across the country with different brand names including Edukids, Topkids, First Steps, Early Years, Community Kindy, Montessori and ABC. Every BestStart centre works with a unique community and as such the service has its own centre philosophy that reflects the place and community of the people it serves.

Mainline Construction, who built the centre, chose Provista Balustrade Systems to provide a unique balustrade and screen solution to the second-level deck area which provides a large and safe space for children to play on a range of structures. The solution is a combination of Provista’s own ‘Manor’ framed glass and ‘Euro Slat’ aluminium rectangular profile which would be used as a vertical screening infill. The glass utilised is Metro TempaClad with an opaque ceramic coating to one side which, along with the Euro Slat, ensures the deck area is private.

Euro Slat was also used for the stairs to the lower playground area, with Euro Slat gates and child-proof latches constructed to ensure safe and managed access to each area. The Manor and Euro Slat balustrade solutions look great when used individually, or together, on modern or classical structures, and in this case have provided a practical and modern structure that complements the design and look of the facility.

Arlene Troy, Project Manager at BestStart, concludes “The result was very pleasing. The balustrade looks great, is extremely well-constructed and the Provista team we dealt with were fabulous”.

Provista Balustrade Systems solutions are compliant with all NZ regulations and suited to A, B, E and C3 residential and commercial applications.
