Each year, many thousands of cabinetry doors are custom-made at Dezignatek, which occupies a large part of New Zealand Panels Group’s purpose-built manufacturing plant in East Tāmaki, Auckland.
Dezignatek has been operating since 2004 and provides custom-made thermoformed doors, drawers and panels to the kitchen and joinery industry. It also provides a custom edging service for melamine, acrylic and laminate panels from Prime Panels and Bestwood, handily co-located on the same site in Auckland.
With the comprehensive thermoform colour palette including matt, satin, texture and woodgrain finishes, Dezignatek’s highly-durable doors don’t require edge-tape which gives them a seamless moisture-resistant finish that will stand the test of time.
Thermoform profile designs include the classic shaker-style doors such as the ever-popular Ronda, Contemporary or Oslo. Berlin, a slim 20mm framed option, was recently added to the range to answer a growing demand for thin-framed doors.
Lyon and Kawhia are popular tongue and groove doors providing a classic yet contemporary option.
For those who prefer a sleek and modern kitchen with flat panelled doors, the Milan, or Milan Square with a scallop handle option, are popular choices.
The newly launched Prague profile has been in high demand with its stunning fluted design adding texture, depth and interest to any space.
All profiles can also be ordered as one-piece paint-ready doors, with Benmore and Wanaka available as two-piece paint-ready doors. Every thermoform door uses NZ-made HDF, a moisture resistant board exclusively supplied to Dezignatek which is rated E0 for formaldehyde.
The Dezignatek production facility features sophisticated automated sanding and glue lines. A tracking system with numerous scanning points operates throughout the plant ensuring visibility over customers' jobs from order right through to despatch. Watch first-hand how Dezignatek’s high-quality doors are made here.
Being locally made, Dezignatek also has full control over production and waste. To decrease the waste of vinyl, eco samples are made using spare space on the thermoform press when standard orders are going through production. Any waste vinyl left over from pressing is recycled into gumboots, mudflaps, hosepipes and plumbing pipes. And in a recent move, plastic wrapping has been swapped out for one made from sugar-cane.
Dezignatek carries Environmental Choice NZ accreditation on all solid thermoform colours, which covers 90% of its range and all its edged melamine, HPL and acrylic doors. The company offers a 10 year warranty on all its doors.
