Trade Essentials Strandsarking is a 16.3mm (nominal) thick, high density reconstituted wood panel specifically formulated for use as a roof sarking material under roofing. It is suitable in roofing applications for all roofs down to a pitch of 2°. Available as an H3.1 Square Edge panel, the improved resin composition provides increased weathering performance and does not require treating on site. This carries the added benefit of meeting New Zealand building requirements, including NZS 3604 — for use in Extra High wind zones.
With no face grain, Strandsarking can be laid in any direction (max span 900mm), reducing wastage, making it a convenient and economical choice on site. The rigid substrate minimises the propensity for the board to sag between the trusses, giving a flatter and more pristine roofline. Its textured surface provides greater slip resistance than other smooth sanded panel products. A 3600 x 800mm panel size makes the board easier to pass up between the trusses. The extra length spans an extra truss, reducing the double fixing at sheet ends.
Trade Essentials Strandsarking, like Strandfloor and Strandboard, is made from sustainable plantation grown NZ Radiata pine strands, a highly durable formaldehyde-free resin, wax to improve moisture resistance and non-solvent based organic preservative chemicals. All products in the Strand family display not only superior performance in NZ conditions, but are also an environmentally preferable choice across their applications.
Since its introduction in 2010, Trade Essentials Strandfloor has sold over 5,000,000 metres squared and was the first product to be labelled Red List Free in the Declare database in Australasia.
