Taking Sustainability Seriously with Architectural Surfaces

Cosentino, creator of composite surfaces for kitchens, bathrooms, floors and interior and exterior cladding, is paving the way for more sustainable surfaces in architecture and construction. The company endeavours to harness all resources and find new uses for waste, as well as creating new infrastructures that are kind on the planet.

Available in more than 40 colours and patterns, Dekton by Cosentino is an example of how the company has pushed itself to reinvent its product composition and manufacturing processes. The entire Dekton range has carbon neutral cradle to grave certification from manufacturing to end-of-life through UN-recognised projects with a high positive social and environmental impact. It is made with 100% renewable electricity and 99% recycled water utilised in the production process. And it has Zero Waste certification, which guarantees the recovery of more than 90% of the waste generated in the production process.

Dekton is a low silica, high-performance ultracompact stone with an average of 10% silica in its composition. It offers incredible durability, quality and long-lasting beauty with minimal maintenance. It is designed to withstand humidity, moisture, heat, bumps and scratches. This makes the high-performing, ultra-compact surfaces perfect for custom-manufactured shower trays, basins, countertops and wall cladding.

It is abrasion resistant, making it practical for interior applications, including bathroom flooring, where there is typically high foot traffic. Dekton’s hardness scores 7/10 on the Mohs scale of mineral hardness, further proving its strength and durability, is warranted for 25 years and is highly scratch-, fade- and stain-resistant.

It comes in large-format tiles, various thicknesses and finishes, all with low porosity levels and anti-slip and anti-stain technologies that protect your space. Dekton Slim is an excellent choice for bathroom wall linings, thanks to its 4mm thickness and large format slabs (3200 x 1440mm) that allow for continuous uninterrupted designs.

The latest Dekton collection, Pietra Kode, released in 2023, includes seven Dekton surfaces that add richness, texture and timeless beauty to any space. For more information, visit Cosentino.
