Bio Silver for More Hygienic Commercial Ceiling Tiles

Fenta ceiling tiles feature a highly engineered coating that not only is highly impervious and scratch-resistant but also contains a bio silver additive in the UV-cured topcoat. Silver ions are a broad-spectrum antimicrobial that prevents bacteria from growing, producing energy or replicating. This makes Fenta a suitable high-end product for ceilings in commercial kitchens, food-processing factories, commercial bathrooms, laundries, and medical applications.

The silver additive in Fenta has been successfully tested on over 50 different bacterial organisms in over 2,000 applications and independently certified to ISO 22196. The testing has included various bacteria, fungus and moulds, which were found to decline in numbers very rapidly, while on non-treated surfaces they started to populate. Certificates and the list of organisms tested are available on request.

Silver is preferable to chemical alternatives

The silver used in the Fenta coating is a solution of silver ions that is mixed into the paint. There is no other biocide in the solution. Silver particles are then encapsulated and exposed in the topcoat. As long as the surface is kept clean, these particles keep acting for the lifetime of the product. Silver is inorganic and non-leaching, so is superior to an organic antimicrobial alternative.

Cleaning Fenta ceiling tiles

The tile surface needs to be cleaned on a regular basis to prevent the accumulation of bio-film, which in turn could support microbial activity independently of the silver-treated surface.

To clean the tiles, simply wipe the surface with a damp cloth. For more stubborn marks, Anzal recommends a non-abrasive domestic cleaner. To remove dirt and soap build-up, wipe down the tiles with sugar soap or domestic cleaner on a damp cloth.

Cleaning frequency is dependent on room usage. For example, in a kitchen, food spills need to be cleaned at the time of the spill; for shower rooms, a normal cleaning routine will keep the surface free of long-time film build-up. Assess on a case-by-case basis.

A longer-life product

The gloss, impervious coating of Fenta ceiling tiles is VOC-free and features excellent mechanical and chemical resistance. It is incredibly difficult to scratch a Fenta tile or damage it with chemicals or industrial cleaners, which gives it a chemical resistance almost on a par with glass. These qualities (and the fact that it will not discolour in sunlight) mean Fenta tiles have a much longer life than alternatives, bringing financial and sustainability benefits to a project.
