PureCoat™
Description

PureCoat™ by Bates Surfaces is a durable MDF panel finished in a high-quality architectural UV coating. The collection is ideal for vertical applications, such as drawers, cabinet doors, wall linings and large feature panels. PureCoat panels are available in a range of solid colours, and finishes from mirror gloss to matt, with a colour-matched reverse side.

Key Features
  • Premium quality — An architectural finish: PureCoat delivers a high-end pure colour, with a depth of finish that outperforms almost all solvent-based processes. Because the paint is dried instantly on the UV line, these panels all arrive on site with a uniform quality finish. PureCoat is resistant to stains and fading, contains anti-fingerprint technology, and offers a much higher resistance to scratching than traditional paint systems.
  • No VOC — A healthier process: Using the latest UV technology, our process bonds the coating into a moisture-resistant, E0 low-formaldehyde-emitting MDF substrate. There are no VOCs or Red List chemicals involved, making for a healthier product on site and a safer working environment in the factory. Because UV technology offers more consistent quality control, this also means less wastage than with traditional processes.
  • Hygienic — Protec+ antimicrobial surfaces: PureCoat surfaces contain Protec+ antimicrobial technology. Impregnated with silver ions that minimise the spread of bacteria, mould and mildew, these long-term antimicrobial properties make PureCoat ideal for applications where hygiene is critical. With this effective layer of protection, the environment is less hospitable to harmful bacteria and the risk of cross-contamination is greatly reduced.
  • Design options — Bespoke colours & matched edging: In addition to the colours in the main collection, Bates Surfaces can create bespoke colours for larger projects. The PureCoat collection has matching PVC and laser edging available, offering edge protection and impact resistance. Some designers also like to use a contrasting edging, such as the plywood edge tape.
Scope of Use

PureCoat is idea for interior, vertical applications such as cabinetry, wall linings and large feature panels.

Limitations on Use
  • Purecoat is not intended for exterior use or in horizontal applications.
  • Purecoat must not be used in high humidity or wet areas such as saunas or showers.
  • The substrate must not come in contact with any free-standing water. Failure to keep dry will affect the performance of the panel.

Effects of Heat:

  • Precautions must be taken to ensure that Purecoat is kept clear of heat sources, such as free standing fireplaces and space heaters, wall ovens and hot plates etc. The structural life of the substrate may be impaired if temperatures exceed 50°C for prolonged periods
  • Purecoat can withstand short term exposure to temperatures of 65°C above ambient temperature without fear of ignition
  • Manufacturers of heat appliances referenced above must be consulted to ensure that correct clearances and ventilation are provided for
