Frontek — Porcelain Facades
Description

Frontek facade cladding panels are extruded ceramics in vitrified porcelain quality. These have excellent technical attributes for the cladding of facades: extremely hard, light, highly resistant and long-lasting, with low water absorption and excellent performance against weather and the most demanding environmental conditions.

Key Features
  • Frontek have developed highly efficient installation systems for all building environments. The ventilated facade systems stand out for its easy installation and replacement
  • For recladding facades, Frontek ventilated facade system offers a wide range of possibilities due to excellent technical features that provides significant energy savings in restored buildings
  • Modern ventilated facade systems guarantee improved thermal insulation, as they allow the installation of a continuous coating between the outer support of the bearing wall and the facade cladding
  • Ventilated facades differ from other constructive solutions in the physical separation that exists between the outside of the facade and the interior wall of the building. This separation improves the thermal and acoustic performance and presents important aesthetic, functional, and constructional advantages.
  • Thermal Insulation advantages: The insulating material applied on the exterior face of the wall and floors eliminates thermal bridges. This prevents heat loss to the outside of the building in the coldest months of the year and avoids heat transfer from outside in summer. The covering acts as a shield reflecting large amount of solar radiation therefore preventing the building from heating up
  • Estimated energy saving is between 15% and 35% in both heating and cooling
  • Acoustic advantages: The air chamber together with the extruded ceramic pieces that form the outer covering increases acoustic comfort by reducing the outside noise between 10% and 20%
  • Aesthetic advantages: Frontek offers a variety of pieces in different sizes, textures and colours that can be combined in different ways to give each facade a unique and original design. All facade panels can be adapted to any building peculiarity and its surroundings which will result in great beauty that brings great poise to the structure and improves the aesthetics of the area
  • Functional and Construction advantages: Fontek ventilated facade system stands out for its and quick installation, great strength and durability, low maintenance, lightness of the system on the wall and exceptional weather protection
Scope of Use
  • For use on residential, commercial, and high-rise buildings
  • Located in any wind zone up to and including 'Extra High' (as classified in NZS3604) or where the building is specifically designed to AS/NZS1170 'Structural Design Actions' up to a maximum design wind pressure differential of 2.5kPa (ULS)
  • For exposure zones B, C, and D as described in NZS3604
  • For all seismic zones
Limitations on Use
  • The attachment of the aluminium subframes to the supporting structure is outside the scope of this certificate, and is subject to specific design
Statement of Building Code Compliance
  • Structure B1.3.1, Frontek facade systems meet the ETAG (European Organisation for Technical Approvals) specifications for ventilated wall claddings. These requirements also satisfy the NZ Building Code for structural performance
  • Structure B1.3.2, Frontek facade systems meet the ETAG (European Organisation for Technical Approvals) specifications for ventilated wall claddings. These requirements also satisfy the NZ Building Code for structural performance
  • Structure B1.3.3a, f, h, Performance under seismic loads has been inferred from the results of ETAG tests on the tiles and fixing details, and on assemblies subjected to face loads simulating wind pressures
  • Structure B1.3.4, The installation of Frontek facade systems is tolerant of variability of the supporting structure, and is resilient to the failure of any particular component
  • Durability B2.3.1b, B2.3.2b All components exceed the required durability of 15 years, and are likely to have service life in excess of 50 years. Tiles are easily removed if access is required to replace fixings
  • Fire C3.5, C3.7 The components of the Frontek facade system are non-combustible
  • External moisture E2.3.2, The Frontek facade is a ventilated façade that contributes to the management of external moisture. Weathertightness and airtightness is determined by specific construction details of the supporting structure
  • Hazardous building materials F2.3.1, None of the components of the Frontek facade system contain or emit harmful materials
In-Service History

Frontek has performed and gained experience over decades in the manufacturing of high tech ceramic products, has positioned their companies nationally and internationally as a benchmark of quality in the manufacturing of clinker, brick and paver, extruded porcelain tiles and ventilated facade systems composed of unique extruded pieces.
