Okoume veneers come from the wood of the Okoume tree (Aucoumea Klaineana) a species native to west-central Africe, in particular Gabon. 

The timber of this tree is known by many names, among them Okoume and Gaboon. Most Okoume is sold as plywood but the solid timber can be used in joinery and furniture applications. The tree generally has interlocked grain which produces a good natural luster. 

Okoume plywood on poplar core is commonly used around the world as a decorative finish replacing typical plasterboard. The hardwood veneer provides a perfect finish for high-impact zones.  

Okoume is one of the tropical hardwoods used for exterior plywood manufactured to BS(British Standard)1088 specifications for use in marine applications and has been used successfully in the industry for decades.
