Description

Key Deck is a solid, natural timber decking product produced from sustainable pine, enhanced with the triple technologies of quartersawing for stability and superior performance, new generation wood protection with guaranteed product durability, and a patented oil and colour impregnation process.

The quartersawn boards can be easily attached directly to the substructure using the Camo Edge Deck Fastening system to create a concealed fix solution. Camo provides a fastener-free decking surface with exceptional uplift resistance.

Scope of Use
  • Designed to be used on residential, commercial, and educational applications
  • Suitable for above ground exterior use as decking and walkways
  • CAMO Edge Deck uses 316 stainless steel screws — suitable for use in high wind, and high corrosion environments
Limitations on Use
  • Must be installed in accordance with Key Deck and CAMO technical literature and installation guides
  • For use on access routes — Key Deck meets slip resistance requirements when laid grip side up and perpendicular to the direction of the traffic
  • Use only CAMO screws
Statement of Building Code Compliance

The Key Deck Quartersawn Decking Concealed Fix system, if designed, used, installed and maintained in accordance with the statements and conditions of the technical literature, will meet or contribute to meeting the following provisions of the NZBC:

  • Clause B1 STRUCTURE: Performance B1.3.1, B1.3.2, and B1.3.4. Key Deck meets the requirements of loads arising from self-weight, imposed loads, and impact [i.e. B1 3.3 (a), (b), (j)]
  • Clause B2 DURABILITY: Performance B2.3.1 (b) 15 years. Key Deck meets this requirement
  • Clause D1 ACCESS ROUTES: Performance D1.3.1 (a), (b). Key Deck profile meets slip resistance requirements when laid grip side up and perpendicular to the direction of the traffic
  • Clause F2 HAZARDOUS BUILDING MATERIALS: Performance F2.3.1. Key Deck meets this requirement and will not present a health hazard to people

B2 — Durability:

  • NZS 3602: 2003 — Timber and wood based products for use in buildings
  • Radiata Pine when used in not in-ground contact to be treated to Hazard Class H3.2
  • Key Deck is treated using MicroPro MCA (micronised copper azole) to a Hazard class of H3.2

D1 — Access Routes:

  • NZS 3604:2011. D1/AS1 — Slip Resistance
  • Key Deck profile meets slip resistance requirements when laid grip side up and perpendicular to the direction of the traffic

CAMO Screws are type 316 stainless steel screws and meet the requirements given in NZS 3604:2011 Tables 4.1 and 4.3: 

  • Steel fixings used in timber treated with copper-based preservative (copper quaternary and copper azole) to be a minimum of type 304 stainless steel
In-Service History

Key Deck has proven performance in New Zealand and various offshore markets since 2007. Previously sold under the Verda Prefinished Decking brand name.

CAMO Edge is manufactured by National Nail USA (installed in 1,000s of decks across US and Europe since 2010 and in New Zealand since 2012.

  • Decking timber colour/appearance will weather/fade over time
  • Must be installed as per manufacturers installation recommendations and suggested maintenance regime
