The hydronic gas boiler system

  • Highly efficient, convenient, cost-effective, and versatile boiler offering the use of either LPG or natural gas.
  • Central Heating New Zealand highly recommends gas boilers where natural gas is available. No other heat source comes close to the value for money on capital and running costs when compared with natural gas. Gas boilers running on LP Gas (LPG) are a good option if the home is a new, small, or well-insulated dwelling using radiators.
  • Central Heating New Zealand offers a variety of compact, efficient boilers from Baxi and Rinnai — including condensing, standard efficiency, and combi boilers.
  • BRANZ appraised Multitubo Piping System: Benefit from the efficiency and reliability of a piping system backed by the renowned BRANZ appraisal
  • Smart controller: Take control of the heating system with ease using our wide range of smart to analogue controllers

Optional extras:

  • Hot water cylinder heating: Enhance systems by incorporating hot water cylinder heating, further elevating home comfort, efficiency, and convenience
  • Other hydronic options such as underfloor and towel rails: Explore underfloor heating and towel rails as add-ons for a complete heating system

Scope of Use

At Central Heating New Zealand, our highly skilled engineers offer a free design service where they calculate the heat demand for each room in the home. Taking into consideration crucial factors such as insulation, airtightness, ceiling height, window sizes, and incidental heating to determine ideal radiator sizes to ensure even, radiant heating throughout.

  • Residential — radiators are suitable for single or multi-storey stand-alone dwellings
  • Strategic placement of radiators throughout the home guarantees uniform, even heating effectively eliminating any cold spots and ensuring a cozy environment in every room
  • Designed to withstand all climate zones, CHNZ's systems can efficiently operate even in extreme conditions with a minimum outdoor air temperature of -20°C
  • Radiators provide a highly responsive and flexible heating option, ideal for both new constructions and existing homes. They quickly heat up and cool down, perfectly suited to New Zealand's ever-changing weather patterns
Limitations on Use
  • Homes with extensive glazing or open areas may require additional or larger radiators to effectively heat effectively. Central Heating's design engineers take this into consideration when doing the home's heat load requirements so that the home remains comfortably warm regardless of its unique design features
  • Please note that radiators and gas boilers do not provide cooling functionality — for cooling options please contact Central Heating New Zealand
Statement of Building Code Compliance
  • B2 Durability — BRANZ Appraised. Multitubo pipes have a life expectancy in excess of 50 years
  • H1 energy efficiency — systems are designed to be efficient in their operation and the insulation required for heated elements as listed in AS1 must be achieved

Other Performance Attributes
  • In New Zealand, the North Island has a comprehensive reticulated natural gas network, plus low cost per kWh (0.086kWh for underfloor or radiators) and low installation costs ($13,000-$18,000) making the gas boiler a crowd favourite heat source
  • Baxi boilers: Standard efficiency boilers offer robust entry-level to central heating. Condensing boilers achieve higher efficiency by condensing water vapour and are 98% efficient. Combination boilers heat both home and hot water (they only provide the heat needed, when needed)
  • Currently, Baxi is developing and testing boilers in their research and development workshop that run on 100% hydrogen which pushes for zero carbon emissions making them safer and cleaner for the environment
  • Rinnai Zen Boiler: Combination boiler that is both a highly efficient water heater and central heating boiler in a single compact appliance that can be placed inside or outside the home. The water heating part of the system heats water directly from the mains removing the need to store the water — making it a cost-effective option. The Zen boiler has 98% efficiency rating and comes with smart controls and Wi-Fi app control to help optimise your system, and save money and energy
  • All gas boilers are virtually silent
  • Gas boilers are small resulting in them typically being installed in attached garages, laundries, or cupboards
  • Outdoor models feature a corrosion-resistant, weatherproof, and fully insulated casing that houses the boiler and required accessories
  • Higher temperature output typically 70-80°C resulting in quick reaction time
