SoundDown Duo Acoustic Intertenancy Floor System for Lightweight Structures
Description

SoundDown Duo acoustic floor has been designed and tested to achieve industry-leading performance in both airborne and impact noise, through a range of frequencies and a variety of floor coverings, including tiles.

This two-layer floor/ceiling system achieves an STC rating of 64 dB, an IIC rating of 62 dB and incorporates a 60/60/60 fire rated ceiling. SoundDown Duo is installed in conjunction with a timber or lightweight steel structural frame and timber joists.

SoundDown Duo comprises:

  • Maglok 20mm DragonBoard
  • SoundDown acoustic flooring battens
  • Vermiculite lightweight acoustic granules
  • Maglok 20mm DragonBoard
  • SG8 timber joists
  • Rondo STPC ceiling mounts assembled with acoustic clips
  • Mammoth R1.8 polyester insulation
  • Rondo 129 Furring Channel
  • 2 layers of 13mm USG Firestop

Scope of Use

SoundDown Duo is a load-bearing, acoustic and fire rated intertenancy floor/ceiling system:

  • Used in conjunction with a timber or lightweight steel structural frame
  • As an acoustic intertenancy midfloor
  • As a fire rated intertenancy midfloor — achieves a maximum fire resistance rating, from below, of 60/60/60 
  • FFL: 85mm
  • Suitable for use with any floor covering, including tiles
Limitations on Use
  • Plasterboard must be manufactured to AS/NZS 2988

As an acoustic intertenancy midfloor:

  • The selected plasterboard must be installed in accordance with all manufacturer's requirements, including sealing with the recommended sealant

As a fire rated intertenancy midfloor:

  • Plasterboard must achieve a minimum material group number rating of 1-S and achieve a fire resistance rating of 60/60/60
