DesignTRIBE was formed as a collaborative architectural design practice in 1994 and specialises in the design of kaupapa Maori as well as mainstream educational facilities ranging from early childcare to tertiary facilities, community and residential facilities. The practice recently specified DuPont Tyvek systems to protect the enclosure of Nga Tapuwae College in South Auckland.
The following compatible DuPont Tyvek products were specified on the project:
DuPont Tyvek HomeWrap Wall Underlay
The world's 'most installed' wall underlay was installed behind the concrete and metal cladding. DuPont Tyvek HomeWrap can be exposed to UV for up to 120 days, which gives the contractor extra time if there are construction delays during winter build conditions.
DuPont Tyvek Contractor Tape for Underlay Overlaps
The acrylic seam tape, sealed overlaps in the DuPont Tyvek HomeWrap. This helps maximise resistance to air and water infiltration. The tape also provides an easy way to repair any tears in the underlay if they occur during the construction process.
DuPont FlexWrap Flashing Tape for Window and Door Openings
The 100% butyl rubber peel and stick adhesive tape was used to protect window and door rough openings from moisture intrusion. It is compatible with most building materials including the DuPont Tyvek HomeWrap and treated timber.
DuPont FlexWrap can be stretched into corners of window openings or around geometric shapes without the need for cutting or plastic corners. It is self sealing and can stick in temperatures as low as -4ºC.
DuPont Tyvek Metal Roof Underlay
The breathable, self supporting, synthetic roof underlay with a built in 8mm drainage mat was installed under the metal roof to help provide extra ventilation. DuPont Tyvek Metal is recommended for roof pitches greater than 3 degrees and features an adhesive tape to seal overlaps.
