DuPont Flashing Tape
Description

DuPont Flashing Tape is window flashing tape, using a 100% butyl self adhesive.

DuPont Flashing Tape is designed to be used:

  • To seal around windows, doors and other wall penetrations as a secondary defence against water penetration
  • It is compatible with timber and steel framed buildings
  • It is compatible with most construction materials including concrete, wood, steel, in addition to most synthetic wall underlays
  • A primer or contact adhesive can be used In some difficult to adhere building materials applications. Contact DuPont for compatibility details.
  • For a risk score between 0-20 in accordance with NZBC Acceptable solution E2/AS1
  • Building Wind Zones up to and including Very High NZS3604:1999, Extra High if used over Rigid Air Barrier

Scope of Use
  • For a risk score between 0-20 in accordance with NZBC Acceptable solution E2/AS1, Table 2
  • Building Wind Zones up to and including Very High NZS3604:1999, Extra High if used over a Rigid Air Barrier
  • To seal around windows, doors and other wall penetrations as a secondary defence against water penetration
  • It is compatible with timber and steel framed buildings
  • It is compatible with most construction materials including concrete, wood, steel and synthetic wall underlays
  • Can be used in Rigid Air Barrier applications on ply and fibre cement substrates
Limitations on Use

To meet the provisions of NZBC as outlined in this data sheet, DuPont Flashing Tape must be:

  • Considered as part of the wall cladding system and not in isolation
  • Used in conjunction with air seals and joinery flashing systems, not as a substitute
  • Used behind claddings that will remain weather resistant

DuPont Flashing Tape should not be:

  • Installed in temperatures below –4°C (without the use of an adhesive primer)
  • Exposed to UV for greater than 120 days
  • Exposed to a naked flame in order to warm the product
  • Used to compensate for poor workmanship of the window or door installation

DuPont Flashing Tape is suitable for use with LOSP treated timber, upon condition the solvent in LOSP treated timber having had sufficient time to evaporate.

Statement of Building Code Compliance

DuPont Flashing Tape when installed in accordance with the recommended guidelines will meet or contribute to meet the following provisions of NZBC:

  • NZBC Clause B2: Durability. Meets the requirement of NZBC B2.3.1 a) 50 years b) 15 years
  • NZBC Clause E2: External Moisture. Contributes to meet these requirements
  • NZBC Clause F2: Hazardous Building Materials. Meets this requirement and will not present a health hazard to people

DuPont Flashing Tape meet the requirements of Acceptable Solution to NZBC E2, and has a CodeMark Product Certification.
