DuPont has expanded its DuPont Tyvek offering to include more cost-effective options within the window and door flashing category. DuPont recently introduced DuPont Flashing Tape to the New Zealand market.
DuPont Flashing Tape is CodeMark certified to ensure compliance with NZBC E2 AS/1. It is available in 100mm, 150mm and 225mm widths and is a lower cost alternative to DuPont's highly flexible FlexWrap product.
DuPont Flashing Tape is designed to be used:
- To seal around windows, doors and other wall penetrations such as electrical junction boxes and dryer vents as a secondary defence against water penetration
- With timber and steel framed buildings
- With most construction materials including concrete, wood and steel, in addition to most synthetic building underlays
- For a risk score between 0-20 in accordance with NZBC Acceptable solution E2/AS1, Table 2
- Building Wind Zones up to and including 'Very High' NZS3604:1999
DuPont Flashing Tape features a 100% butyl adhesive which allows application in temperatures as low as –4ºC without the need for adhesive primer. DuPont Flashing Tape is compatible with many different building materials including LOSP treated timber, aluminium, concrete, PVC plastics, in addition to wall and roof underlays within the DuPont Tyvek range.
DuPont has enjoyed a steady pipeline of new products since introducing its first building enclosure product, DuPont Tyvek HomeWrap, to the building industry in 1978. DuPont Tyvek HomeWrap is now in its third generation as a rigid air and weather barrier and has been installed on approximately 15 million buildings worldwide.
DuPont Flashing Tape has been installed on thousands of buildings in North America over the past 10 years.
