DuPont Tyvek HomeWrap Wall Underlay
Description

DuPont Tyvek HomeWrap is a breathable, fire retardant, synthetic wall underlay.

DuPont Tyvek HomeWrap is engineered from unique patented flash spunbond, High Density Polyethylene Fibres (HDPE) wall underlay for the following construction:

  • Cavity:
    • All cladding types with both timber and steel framing
    • Rigid Air Barriers, (over-sheathed)
  • Direct fixed:
    • With absorbent claddings such as timber, polymeric cladding, plywood, gypsum fibre cement, brick wood, and stucco plaster on timber framing, or over thermal break on steel  framing
    • Rigid Air Barriers, (over-sheathed)

DuPont Tyvek HomeWrap is available in roll size: 2732 x 30.48mm or 910 x 30.48mm.

Key Features
  • CodeMark product certificate, CMA-CM40140 — to ensure compliance with New Zealand Building Code requirements
  • Backed by DuPont, a 215 year old company
  • Up to 120 day UV resistance to allow plenty of time for cladding to be installed
  • Engineered from Spunbonded High Density Polyethylene Fibres (HDPE) making it lightweight, strong and fast to install
  • Part of the DuPont Tyvek Weatherization System which when installed with DuPont Tyvek Contractor Tape and DuPont Tyvek Wrap Caps provides superior air and water resistance and increased noise reduction
Scope of Use
  • Cavity:
    • All cladding types with both timber and steel framing
    • Rigid Air Barriers, (over-sheathed)
  • Direct fixed:
    • With absorbent claddings such as timber, polyymeric cladding, plywood, gypsum fibre cement, brick wood, and stucco plaster on timber framing, or over thermal break on steel  framing
    • Rigid Air Barriers, (over-sheathed)

DuPont Tyvek HomeWrap Wall Underlay:

  • Can be installed in all Wind Zones up to and including Very High, or Extra High if over a rigid air barrier
  • A non-directional wall underlay meaning the wrap can be installed upside down or inside out and performance will not be compromised
  • Resistant to most surfactants meaning it is suitable for use behind Cedar Cladding (endorsed by the Western Red Cedar Association)
  • Can be used in all New Zealand climate zones
  • Can be used in all seismic and corrosion zones
Limitations on Use

DuPont Tyvek HomeWrap must be:

  • Considered as part of the wall cladding system and not in isolation
  • Used on studs at a maximum of 600mm centres and dwangs fitted flush at maximum of 1200mm on centre
  • Used only as a wall underlay
  • Laps taped in high wind zones and above
  • Laps taped to meet requirements of air barrier and H1-energy efficiency

DuPont Tyvek HomeWrap should not be:

  • Used as a roof underlay
  • Exposed to UV for greater than 120 days
  • Direct fixed behind metallic non absorbent claddings to timber or steel studs

DuPont Tyvek HomeWrap is suitable for use with LOSP treated timber, upon condition the solvent in LOSP treated timber having had sufficient time to evaporate which is typically 7 days.

When used with steel framing, requires a thermal break between underlay and framing.
