Site-specific PS1s for complex projects

For more complex builds requiring site-specific PS1s, UNEX's engineers are ready to conduct a detailed evaluation of your handrail and balustrade design. Guidance on the use of producer statements

There’s often confusion about when and where Producer Statements are required. Here's a quick overview of the types of Producer Statements and how to obtain them through UNEX:

PS1 Design Producer Statement: Available via the EziSpec tool on UNEX's Technical Portal
PS2 Design Review Producer Statement: A review of UNEX's PS1 by an independent CPENG engineer, available upon request (rarely needed).
PS3 Installation Producer Statement: Supplied by the fabricator, verifying installation according to the PS1.
PS4 Installation Review Producer Statement: A review of the PS3 and the physical installation, usually by an independent third party (rarely needed).

UNEX Extreme Barriers are specifically engineered to comply with the extremely heavy liveload classes 'C1/C2', 'D' or 'C5' of the New Zealand Building Code legally required for public and crowded areas.

UNEX's Extreme Barriers Style has two ranges — X1500 Series and X3000 Series

The X1500 Series is designed to meet classifications C1/C2 and D of AS/NZS 1170.1, which stipulates a 1.5kN/m load on the top edge — twice the load required on a typical residential application
The X3000 Series is designed to meet classifications C5 of AS/NZS 1170.1 which stipulates a 3.0kN/m load on the top edge — four times the load required on a typical residential application.

The Extreme Framed Glass Styles are typically used for, but not limited to:

Grandstands
Gymnasiums
Sports and surf clubs
Shopping centres and retail areas
Restaurants, cafes, and bars
School halls, and public pavilions

Extreme Barriers are also suited to other situations where large post spacings, a bulkier look or additional height is required.

There is a wide range of fixing options available for both suits to fix to steel, timber and concrete applications. Site-specific specifications may also be provided upon request for those non-standard situations.

UNEX has designed its Extreme Barriers range to comply with the B1, B2, F2 and F4 requirements of the NZ Building Code and are suitable for occupancy types 'C1/C2', 'C5' and 'D' in accordance with AS/NZS 1170.1: 2002.

For non-standard situations not covered by their specifications, a site-specific PS1 and specification may be prepared by Unex upon request.

The AZS Side-Mount Channel by Unex Systems can be used for both external and internal applications, including decks, balconies, stairways and landings and pool fences, etc. Unex Systems’ Arena brand is designed to and complies with 'A', 'B', 'E' and 'C3' loadings of AS/NZS 1170.1:2002 for residential applications, office and work areas, as well as areas for moving people without obstacles.

There is a number of standard fixing options available to fix to the side of dry timber (with water-proofing considerations), wet/open timber, steel PFC and concrete substrates. Site-specific specifications may also be provided upon request for those non-standard situations.

Unex Systems has designed its Arena range to comply with the B1, B2, F2 and F4 requirements of the NZ Building Code and are suitable for occupancy types 'A', 'B', 'E' and 'C3' in accordance with AS/NZS 1170.
