Deep Profile of True Oak Corrugate Creates Striking Roof for Auckland Home

This Auckland renovation featured the addition of a new bedroom and living area and an overall revamp of the existing home, seeing the home’s total footprint increase from 95m² to 170m². To bring the new and existing sections of the home together, the clients chose to reroof the entire home in Roofing Industries True Oak Corrugate — a metal corrugated roof with a deeper, rounder profile that brings a distinct architectural look to buildings.

The original home had aged concrete tiles which didn’t quite fit with the contemporary aesthetic of the extension. A modern roofing solution was needed that would be compliant, low maintenance and suitable for the home’s location just 150m from the sea. True Oak Corrugate fit the brief while giving the homeowners the striking architectural look they wanted.

True Oak Corrugate is ideal for adding detail to any roofline, with its deeper, rounder sinusoidal wave corrugated profile creating distinctive shadow lines and deeper curves. The visually appealing look of the roofing is complemented by high performance — it offers excellent spanning capability, provides enhanced water carrying capacity and meets all compliance requirements including B2 Durability and E2 External Moisture. In addition, the profile can be installed on roofs with a pitch as low as four degrees, offering design possibilities for a broad range of projects.

“We decided on the True Oak profile because we wanted to make sure you still see the profile even with the slope of the roof,” says the homeowner. “Modern profiles are often very subtle, but True Oak has a big profile, so when you look at the roof from different angles and at different times of day you see the profile and shadows cast.”

Keeping the coastal location in mind, the True Oak Corrugate profile was specified with Colorcote Magnaflow — a pre-painted steel substrate with magnesium added technology for superior corrosion resistance. This ensures low maintenance and a long lasting roof system for the homeowners.

Once the roofing was chosen, the design and consent process was straightforward with architects Assemble noting that all information was easy to find and use, helping ensure stress-free compliance. Installation was hassle-free, completed by roofers Relay Roofing.

The end result is a striking contemporary roof that unites new and old sections of the home, creating a cohesive modern look.

“We couldn’t be happier with the look and feel of the roof,” say the homeowners. “The True Oak fits perfectly with the modern feel we’ve created inside and out.”
