The dominant discussion for the past few months in the construction sector has been the changes being implemented around H1 with the proposals being aimed at reducing our energy requirements and improving the wellbeing of building occupants.
Thermal insulation is one of the most important decisions made in achieving an energy-efficient and sustainable project.
The most common method to insulate is via 'in-wall' insulation. The downside to this method is that the insulation material is discontinuous or in other words, the insulation material is broken by the structural framing ultimately reducing the thermal performance at these locations.
External 'Outsulation' provides a complete, unbroken thermal insulation to the exterior walls of a building.
XTHERM GOLD 'out'sulated plaster facade systems incorporate Resene Construction Systems' exclusive 50mm thick XTHERM GOLD ultra high density, fire-retardant PIR (Polyisocyanurate) panels, providing far greater thermal insulation and hardness than traditional standard grade EPS (expanded polystyrene).
Two systems are available — one as a direct fix masonry overlay, and a cavity based system for install over timber or steel framing. Both systems create an unbroken layer of ‘out’sulation, a highly efficient method to keep the warmth in and the cold out.
XTHERM Gold Thermal Performance:
+ R1.265 @ 50mm
+ R1.925 @ 75mm
+ R2.585 @ 100mm
*the thermal ratings listed are de-rated by .45 to allow for thermal loss through the cavity. Add the thermal rating listed to the ‘in-wall’ insulation to calculate total wall thermal performance, ie- R2.8 + R1.265 = R4.065
If XTHERM Gold is direct fixed against masonry wall the thermal rating or R value is not de-rated.
XTHERM GOLD is a complete system installed by professional LBP plastering contractors incorporating Resene Construction Systems' full flashing suite, lamina of hand-applied modified plaster coatings, full surface fibreglass reinforcement, styled with your choice of textures from ROCKCOTE or Plaster Systems all finished with Resene protective coatings in your favourite Resene colours.
Best of all it is made right here in New Zealand.
