Designed by Connell Architecture, this development in Merivale, Christchurch, offers six contemporary townhouses perfect for modern living. The project had a tight construction programme with a scheduled completion date of December 2021, meaning any time savings would be a huge advantage. By choosing the REHAU PINC Plumbing System, the team at Elley Plumbing were able to install pipes in less time and with fewer tools, keeping the project right on track.
The choice to use REHAU PINC push-in-connect plumbing system came down to REHAU’s quality products, excellent reputation and the time-savings offered by the system. “REHAU PINC was chosen for the quality of the pipe, but also the speed of installation,” says Brad Elley, owner and operator of Elley Plumbing. “We were under pressure with the Christmas rush, so it was good to get through it quicker than other products.”
New to REHAU, the PINC system is a smart range of plumbing fittings with push connectivity for REHAU’s PE-Xa pipe, ensuring a secure connection and faster installation than standard plumbing systems. Designed for ease of use, the system minimises the number of tools required — with only a pipe cutter needed. A fluorescent pink inspection ring on each fitting ensures easy visibility in the dark.
For each of the six townhouses, the PINC system was used to connect the downstairs kitchen and laundry, and two upstairs bathrooms to hot water cylinders installed in the ceiling. Brad says that while the system was new to his team, after a training session with REHAU, installation was easy. “It went really smoothly — a lot quicker than if we were using other products,” he says
Brad estimates that PINC reduced the time it took to install the pipes by around 65% — giving his team plenty of time to work on other plumbing work needed for the project.
Ultimately the PINC push-in-connect plumbing system offered the time-efficiency the project needed to be delivered on time, without compromising on quality. “I’m really happy with the result,” says Brad. “REHAU is a quality, trustworthy system. It gives us peace of mind.”
