New Zealand has some of the toughest industry standards in the world, particularly around enclosure and cladding systems. PSP has combined local industry experience with the premium ACM brand of Alpolic/fr from one of the world's leading manufacturers, Mitsubishi Plastics Incorporated, to create a robust cladding system which is cost-effective yet high performing.
Alpolic/fr is a fire-rated ACM composed of aluminium skins and a fire-retardant core (non-combustible mineral-filled core). It passes most countries' fire-safety codes for exteriors and interiors. Compared with solid aluminium panels, Alpolic/fr is lightweight, rigid and flat. The surface is finished with Lumiflon-based fluorocarbon paints as standard, and the backside is finished with a thin polyester coating (wash coating) or a service coating paint.
While designed primarily for use as an external wall cladding system, it can be also used in curtain walls, façades, fascias, corporate signage, decorative elements, internal ceilings, soffit linings, and anywhere fire safety is paramount.
The PSP Alpolic/fr Cladding System attained CodeMark in November 2013, verifying compliance with the following clauses of the New Zealand Building Code:
- Structure: B1.3.3 , B1.3.2
- Durability: B2.3.1
- Protection from Fire: C3.4(a),C3.5
- External Moisture: E2.3.3, E2.3.3, E2.3.5
- Hazardous Building Materials: F2.3.1
- Scope of Use: All windzones as per NZS3604, up to and including extra high
PSP has extended their range to include 16 different colours and gloss levels, going from their matt colours with a level of 15% up to their sparkling colours with gloss levels of 80%. The range also includes Alpolic/fr Mirror for interior use.
