Barangaroo House, the latest exclusive hospitality venue by Matt Moran, is a new purpose-built property on one of Sydney’s latest harbourside quarters. The curved membrane decks required a low height solution for the contemporary design.
A solution that ensured the waterproof membrane would not be penetrated over time was necessary. QwickBuild by Outdure was specified as the supporting sub-frame for Blackbutt hardwood decking boards.
Low height capabilities were fitted from the membrane to the joinery for a flush finish with the interior flooring. The design of the exterior space was curved and required a system that could allow for organic shapes.
QwickBuild is an external flooring system that provides strong, durable stable structures to support decking boards, tiles, turf or a combination of these surfaces. Joists support the surfaces and the joists are supported by bearers. The bearers are supported by posts (piers) or adjustable height pedestals (deck jacks/pods).
QwickBuild is designed for installations over waterproof membranes, concrete or natural ground scenarios. The system allows for construction of support structures ranging from ultra-low height through to structures high off the ground.
Other recent retail and hospitality venues that have used Outdure's system include Newcastle University Retail Precinct, Slims Rooftop Bar, Sydney, and Smales B: Hive Retail Development on Auckland's North Shore.
