With an outstanding beachside view, the outdoor living area was always going to be an integral part of this new home's design. Including opening and closing louvre roofs was central to creating this family-friendly, multi-purpose outdoor area for their north facing deck. Two louvre roofs were integrated into the deck area, giving the family plenty of options to control their surroundings; they can close the louvres for shelter from passing rain storms or glaring sun, or open them up to let more in more light or vent any build-up of hot air.
The louvre blades were fitted to face towards the sun (north), allowing for even greater control of the louvre roof light and shade conditions. This is particularly useful during summer when louvre blades can be angled open to the north, creating a perfect combination of restful shade and pleasant light away from the glaring sun.
Designed as part of a permanent structure, integrated louvre roofs look like they have always been there, but unlike the self-supporting HomePlus louvre roofs which use downpipes for drainage, in this design, water is drained via an internal gutter and out through downpipes, away from the entertainment area.
The powder coated colour was chosen to match the joinery colour, the light colour gives the greatest light reflection when the roof is closed. This stunning louvre roof was designed and fitted by HomePlus Whakatane.
