Juralco’s existing balustrade and screen product range has been extended to include louvres as an option in various formats, which include both vertical and horizontal systems. Louvre systems are usually chosen for their pleasing aesthetic appeal, but they are also a multi-functional solution for shading and privacy. Included in the Juralco range are pivoting louvre roofs, known as the Bask, which open and shut at the push of button. This provides the ultimate in function, flexibility and ease of operation.
Fitted horizontally in fixed panel systems, louvres are now very popular as privacy screens and windbreaks on house exteriors. The biggest increase in the use of louvres has been incorporating them in both house and commercial building designs where detailing them on building facades provides a stylish finish. Fixed louvres for sun control and privacy functions on windows are now frequently specified by architects.
Louvrelite by Juralco is the original louvre sun control system. Fixed louvres can be installed to let winter sun in and keep out the harsh NZ sun in summer. This is done by installing the louvres at a fixed angle which allows owners at the planning stage to choose how much sun they allow into their home during summer or winter. This can reduce heating and air conditioning operating costs and make a home more comfortable to live in. By using louvres for strategic shading, designers can incorporate a greater glass area in designs, while still meeting Homestar requirements.
Louvres can also be used for style, either as feature panels to break up long runs of cladding, or as a functional screen to hide air conditioning units. If screens are required to be on the edge of a deck, louvre panels can be incorporated into the balustrade design, thus acting as an approved balustrade system. Louvres can also be used as sliding privacy screens, or as infill panels for fences or gates.
The choice of louvre colours, either with or without contrasting colours for the brackets or frame, provides a stylish and functional system which complements the design of a house or building. Louvres can be supplied in different sizes, spacings, or powder coat finishes to suit any application.
