The Justice and Emergency Services Precinct brings together the New Zealand Police, Fire and Emergency New Zealand, St John New Zealand, the Ministry of Civil Defence and the Department of Corrections into one purpose-built, leading-edge precinct. An estimated 2,000 people will work in or use the 42,000m² precinct daily, so hard wearing floor coverings were necessary. This is why Warren & Mahoney chose Shaw Carpet Tiles, Tarkett Vinyl, and Regupol Rubber Flooring.
Shaw Material Matters Fringe was laid in a brick layout in the courtrooms with a contrasting herringbone layout in the hallways. This defined the different areas and created interest in the large expansive hallways. All these carpet tiles installed with Shaw EcoWorx backing. 100% PVC free, EcoWorx backing carries the Good Environmental Choice Australia accreditation which achieves points under the GreenStar assessment, Cradle to Cradle Silver certification, and the Declare label, showing it is suitable for use in the Living Building Challenge.
Behind the scenes, the locker rooms and shower rooms required greater durability and water resistance, therefore they feature Tarkett iQ Granit and Granit Safe.T. Tarkett iQ Granit offers extreme durability as well as superior wear, stain and abrasion resistance for heavy duty areas. For the wet areas, Granit Safe.T provides superior slip resistance while maintaining stain resistance and durability. In addition, both Tarkett iQ Granit and Granit Safe.T are phthalate-free and achieve Greentag GreenRate Level A.
Regupol rubber flooring was utilised in the cafe and kitchenette areas due to its natural acoustic and slip resistant properties. Ideal for heavy duty commercial areas, Regupol rubber flooring is made from recycled materials and carries the Good Environmental Choice Australia accreditation.
With all these flooring products in the Justice and Emergency Services Precinct, there is no doubt that this flooring will look great for years to come.
