The Port of Tauranga is the busiest port in New Zealand and has undergone a series of projects to expand and increase freight capacity as part of its five year plan. The expansion includes the widening and deepening of the harbour, upgrading the rail network and increasing the storage capacity of the port.
As part of this expansion, Harkin Roofing were brought on board to work on one of the largest roofing projects in the country. Specialising in industrial and commercial roofing, Harkin have over 35 years' experience in both supply and installation of all types of metal roofing and cladding. Designed for bulk storage for the Port of Tauranga and OJI Fibre Solutions, the project totalled 22,500m² — a great boost to the port's storage capacity. The project will run for a total of six months with the roof installation taking up to three months.
For the roofing underlay, Harkin Roofing were looking for a heavy weight foil product that would make installation straightforward in what they considered windy conditions, due to the location. Working with Harkin Roofing, the DriStud team worked on not only the right solution, but also ensured an easy ordering process with on time deliveries.
"Harkin Roofing BOP Ltd has enjoyed the relationship with DriStud. The whole process from ordering, supply and delivery of products is seamless and without hassle," — Harkin Roofing BOP Ltd.
Harkin selected DriStud's W9 Roofing Underlay, a commercial grade, heavy weight, fire retardant white faced foil. Its multilayer structure made for easy installation, considered very important because of the size and exposure of the project. With the reflective foil facing the air cavity (white side facing downwards into the warehouse), it will have a clean white finish that will increase light diffusion.
Harkin Roofing BOP and DriStud are proud to have worked together and contributed to the ongoing growth of the Ports of Tauranga, and look forward to providing quality products and materials along with excellent service and support.
