REVEGO Revealed: Insights from the Blum Specification Team

REVEGO is the ultimate pocket door system that gives you the ability to enclose and open out interior spaces with a press. Available in both single door (REVEGO uno) and double door (REVEGO duo) applications, the full overlay fronts disappear into a dedicated narrow cabinet — the ‘pocket.’

Kate Ward, Tania Bailey and Brittany Smith have been exploring the system’s potential while familiarising themselves with its components. As Blum’s Specification Consultants, it’s their job to assist architects and designers working with REVEGO. So, we asked them to share their insights.

Taking open-plan designs to the next level

All three Specification Consultants are excited by the ways REVEGO can complement the way New Zealanders live and work in the 21st century. “As Kiwis we love our open-plan spaces,” says Kate. “I can see it being used in high-end designs, where the owners want to cover up the kitchen or scullery when it’s not in use. Or creating a cosy space by the fireplace and being able to conceal this when it’s not required.”

Tania can see opportunities for a small kitchen to be concealed behind REVEGO in a commercial setting such as a boardroom. In residential spaces, she suggests “Home offices can be integrated into larger living areas, but hidden when not in use, fully utilising the space.”

For Brittany, a REVEGO system could screen off the functional parts of a kitchen, so it appears that joinery becomes a wall: “It lets designers create an extra space from a large area.”

Ultra-easy to slide — no motors needed

One of the features that makes REVEGO so practical is its ease of movement for such a large door. Tania says, “Many people think the mechanism is electrically driven, but it is in fact fully mechanical, utilising Blum’s TIP-ON motion technology.”

Brittany adds that TIP-ON means REVEGO doesn’t need a handle — enhancing the appearance of this ‘moveable wall.’ “This will be very appealing to those who aspire to a sleek, minimalist aesthetic in the home or at work,” she says.

Kate believes the bifold variant, REVEGO duo, will be particularly attractive to designers and their clients: “When you go to close it, it’s quite mesmerising,” she says. “It’s something you have to see in order to believe it.”

Releasing the potential of REVEGO

What other tips can the Specification Consultants give designers and architects? Kate suggests making the most of Blum’s online configuration tool. “We have a Product Configurator to help you plan the layout and lock down REVEGO’s place within the parameters of the design,” she says.

Tania suggests exploring the potential of REVEGO to create a stunning ‘wall of doors’ from the variants: “You could include a niche of the maximum width and height. Imagine a three-metre-wide space covered by two double door REVEGO duos, incorporating four door leaves of 750mm wide each and up to three metres high.”

For Brittany, the sheer flexibility of the system will open up new possibilities for architects working with smaller spaces: “Being able to create multifunctional areas within large open-plan designs is a real game-changer. I can’t wait to see what people come up with.”

All three Specification Consultants suggest calling or emailing if you have any questions about REVEGO or wish to pin down the details of a plan. And of course, you can visit the Blum showrooms in Christchurch and Auckland to see, touch and explore the capabilities of REVEGO.
