With over 361,000 visitors, EuroCucina 2024 provided a fascinating glimpse of the décor ideas and storage trends that are sure to be making their way to these shores.
A team of local, and international Blum representatives had the chance to see the direction other European manufacturers and designers are taking.
Here are some of the takeaways:
Colour is back
If you’re bored with beige and looking to move on from off-white, EuroCucina 2024 had good news: Colour is making a comeback. Sandy, earthy hues such as terracotta, powder pink, ochre and salmon were much in evidence, often deployed to complement rich materials such as timber and stone.
We were particularly impressed with the way warm or soft palettes were paired with dark furniture fittings such as onyx black CLIP top BLUMOTION hinges or carbon black LEGRABOX drawers.
Thinking beyond the kitchen
While kitchens remain the key zone for innovative storage, there’s a surge of interest in making the most of other areas. Multi-functional homes to suit different living situations will be a key trend going forwards. Creative takes on wall units and reinterpreted storage solutions open up new ways of using space, with drawers and cabinetry slotting into bathrooms, bedrooms and laundries.
Designers are embracing multifunctional spaces that serve the desire for open-plan living. The slide-in REVEGO pocket system was a big hit, providing a stylish way to open and close off living spaces from more functional zones.
A purely mechanical solution with no motors or power supply, REVEGO offers simplicity when you want to make the most of the available space in a residential or commercial fit-out.
New Zealand can lead the way
While Europe provides ongoing inspiration in materials and colours, as well as superbly-engineered hardware solutions, the larger spaces and one-off designs common in New Zealand projects provide a stage for more innovative thinking.
Combining the local love of airy spaces and unconventional layouts with European sophistication, New Zealand designers are creating solutions that are anything but cookie-cutter.
