The Ceiling Solution for Steamy Changing Rooms

Designed by Warren and Mahoney, the EA Networks Centre in Ashburton features a swimming pool, indoor stadium and gymnasium, alongside a café and changing amenities. Fenta ceiling tiles have been used where hygiene is critical — in the changing rooms and bathrooms, commercial kitchen and café servery.

Changing rooms in aquatic centres are prone to high moisture levels and susceptible to mould and mildew. The prefinished fibre cement Fenta panel was selected on this project for its durability. The UV-cured coating — available in gloss or matt white — is incredibly hard and scratch-resistant and is one of the most fit-for-purpose surfaces for commercial bathrooms.

Not only does Fenta present a clean, modern aesthetic, it also stands up to the humid environment, providing both longevity and low maintenance.

Broad-spectrum antimicrobial additive

The UV-cured coating has a bio silver additive, a broad-spectrum antimicrobial that is proven to inhibit the growth of bacteria by up to 99.99% and lasts the lifetime of the product.

The silver additive in Fenta has been successfully tested on over 50 different bacterial organisms in over 2,000 applications and independently certified to ISO 22196. The testing has included various bacteria, fungi and moulds, which were found to decline in numbers very rapidly, while on non-treated surfaces they started to populate. Certificates and the list of organisms tested are available on request.

This makes Fenta a suitable high-end product for humid spaces, meeting every current domestic and overseas hygiene regulation when installed correctly.

Light-reflective to save energy

The gloss or matt white surface is particularly helpful in rooms with no exterior windows (a common scenario for changing rooms and commercial kitchens). The reflective surface bounces light around the room, maximising the available illumination from light fittings.

VOC-free paint

Fenta’s UV technology means coatings are instantly dried on the UV line with no VOC emissions. UV curing complies with international environmental standards, such as Global Green Tag, and the coating is manufactured under the ISO 14001 environmental standard.
