Located in the heart of Central Auckland, the Britomart precinct is a buzzing shopping and dining hub comprised of elegant historical buildings and new developments around a central open square. One of the newest additions to this vibrant space is Amano Restaurant, an Italian restaurant and bakery. Amano's striking interior features the debut utilisation of ARDEX PC-T — a new polished concrete flooring finish with endless design possibilities.
For the flooring at Amano, random large pieces of polished marble were firstly placed using ARDEX stone adhesive, then ARDEX PC-T was self-levelled around the stone pieces to create a polished floor in a glossy white finish. The overall effect is spectacular, evoking ancient Roman ruins in a thoroughly contemporary context.
New to the New Zealand market, ARDEX PC-T is a self-drying, self-levelling blend of Portland cements and other hydraulic cements. It can be used to create polished concrete floors with reduced cure time, less steps to complete and significant cost savings on the finished result.
During the mixing of the product, the three basic colours (grey, light grey and white) can be mixed with variety of colourants and coloured aggregates to produce an incredible range of finishes.
ARDEX PC-T hardens fast and can be polished within 24 hours, providing a hard, flat, smooth surface. This versatile new product is ideal for use in projects such as retail environments, schools, warehouses and airports — anywhere a polished concrete floor is a desirable solution.
