AlumiGard is a pre-painted aluminium product, using a marine grade aluminium alloy substrate, for all roofing and cladding environments.
AlumiGard is suitable for use in ‘very severe’ marine environments, right up to the waterline, as well as chemical or acidic exposure in harsh industrial or geothermal areas.
For industrial environments where chemicals in the atmosphere may impact durability, AlumiGard X with 70% Polyvinylidene Flouride (PVDF) topcoat provides additional protection from chemicals along with the corrosion resistance of an aluminium substrate.
AlumiGard and AlumiGard X have outstanding colour and gloss retention and are suitable for roofing, cladding, and rainwater goods.
AlumiGard is ideal for interior and exterior applications, including ‘very severe marine’ and industrial sites where there is a very high risk of deterioration from corrosive elements in the environment. These include salt-laden, geothermal and heavy industrial environments (particularly acidic/low ph).
Where there are corrosive chemicals present in the atmosphere (such as airports, gas stations or loading bays), it is advisable to use AlumiGard X, with a 70% PVDF topcoat.
If users are unsure about which substrate and paint system is right for the build, ColorCote provide an online warranty enquiry form to give you a recommendation and warranty timing.
Do not use a pitch less than three degrees (eight degrees for standard corrugated profile) to avoid ponding and premature degradation of the coating system.
Buildings which have a highly alkaline (high ph) environment such as dairy factories and abbatoirs which use caustic cleaners, as well as fertiliser processing and storage facilities, may be better suited to ColorCote MagnaFlow.
Please contact ColorCote if unsure which product to use.
ColorCote AlumiGard and AlumiGard X, under normal well washed conditions of exposure, can be expected to show no cracking (other than that which may occur during forming), flaking or peeling of the paint film for 15 years from the date of installation.
